Aaaaaag, all weekend I’ve been getting major latency from my web site because AT&T Broadband doesn’t know the mathematical “the quickest way between two points is a straight line” thing. Nope, instead, we’ll send you down to L.A., then BACK up to the Bay Area, then to the East Coast through a few hosts and then finally to your web server. Oh ya, according to the brainiacs at AT&T, 200ms is normal! hehehe, ya, they’re network wiz’s! Shows why them being a monopoly prevented common sense growth in networking knowledge, huh? Wow, 15 years later and they still haven’t learned less then 100ms is normal.
I was going to put this quote on my sig for this week, but decide against it as not to offend anyone on accident. So instead, I’ll put it here. See, you came here instead of me sending you something, so if you’re offended, you came to be offended

Don’t want to install Linux on your system? Don’t want to go through the hassle of partioning your drive? Just need to boot your PC because it won’t (yup, Windoze is installed on it)? Well guess what? You can now boot into Linux off a CD-ROM!! That’s right, no install, baby! Full Linux with web browser and office suite! Too cool? Well how’s this, it’s free, too! (Of course, it’s Linux!) Go get KNOPPIX and see for yourself.
All the rhetoric on whether or not we should go to war against Iraq has got my insane little brain spinning like a roulette wheel. I enjoy reading opinions from both sides, but I have detected a hint of confusion from some of you. As I was reading the paper recently, I was reminded of the best advice someone ever gave me. He told me about the KISS method (“Keep it Simple, Stupid”). So, with this as a theme, I’d like to apply this theory for those who don’t quite get it. My hope is that we can simplify things a bit and recognize a few important facts.
Here are 10 things to consider when voicing an opinion on this important issue:
- Between President Bush and Saddam Hussein…..Hussein is the bad guy.
- If you have faith in the United Nations to do the right thing, keep this in mind. They have Libya heading the Committee on Human Rights and Iraq heading the Global Disarmament Committee. Do your own math here.
- If you use Google Search and type in “French Military Victories,” your reply will be “Did you mean French Military Defeats?”
- If your only anti-war slogan is “No war for oil,” sue your school district for allowing you to slip through the cracks and robbing you of the education you deserve.
- Saddam and Bin Laden will not seek United Nations approval before they try to kill us.
- Despite what some seem to believe, Martin Sheen is NOT the President. He just plays one on TV.
- Even if you are anti-war, you are still an “Infidel” and Bin Laden wants you dead, too.
- If you believe in a “vast right-wing conspiracy,” but not in the danger that Hussein poses, quit hanging out with the Dell computer dude.
- We are trying to liberate them. He is trying to kill us.
- Whether you are for military action, or against it, our young men and women overseas are fighting for us to defend our right to speak out. We all need to support them without reservation.
Today we got all of Liz’s side of the family together to celebrate all of our birthdays. Except for Liz, Tom and Suzanne, we all had birthdays in the last two months! So, that’s Ray, Dale, Rebecca, myself, Alice and Jon. Wow, that’s a lot of folks! Next year we’ll be adding Joshua to mix!
So, Liz got the house all nice and ready with a lovely set table for all of us to have Linner at (lunch/dinner). I BBQ’d some sweet tri-tips with that awesome meat tenderizer I love (and Suzanne loved it so much, she took a bottle home) and Rebecca made some yummy corn. I also threw on some potatoes on the grill, too. Mmmm, grilled potatoes are good and soft!
I got Starry Night Backyard for my Mac OS X (or Windoze) from Dale and Jon. I am SO stocked! It’s awesome. I can’t wait to use it. I got a bonus gift from Tom and Rebecca for something at Starbucks to hold me over until my dew guard of the telescope comes in and a gift certificate to Fry’s from Ray and Alice. So, ya, I made out pretty darn good!
To see just how much fun we all had, check out the pix. You know where they are!
The footer now looks right on the Mac. I tell you, Mac and Windoze handles WIDTH tags totally different. Drives me nuts. I use percents for a lot of them because it’s easier then being precise to the pixel. Welp, Mac don’t like that and that was the problem with my footer, percents. So, I did a little measuring, a little tweaking and some complaining and now the Mac looks like the PC on the footer.
Next up, BlogAmp. I need to either discard it and go with something else (which I’m leaning toward) or clean up the JavaScript to work properly on the Mac (which requires more work). It annoys me how cruddy it looks on the Mac and I need to fix that. Now that more Mac-heads will be drifting over via keyword “safari” and “67″, I figure I should make the front porch presentable

Katelyn’s poo poo pix are up on her site. Yes, I blocked out the “evidence” so you don’t have to worry. I have a wife making sure you don’t get too grossed out

Ok, so I didn’t get them up last night, I was a bit busy and tired. But, got ‘em up now! Check them out, great pix of Sutter’s Fort guest staring the Anderson’s (Rasmussen’s).
